Remembering Who I Am

There is something beautiful about finality. It is often where wisdom and understanding begin, yet dying to ourselves can be one of the most difficult parts of the Christian journey.

As followers of Christ, we are called to build faithfully for the Kingdom of God and to finish what He has called us to do. One passage that the Lord has continually brought to my heart is Matthew 11:28–30:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

As I continue dying to my old self, I find great comfort in knowing that God faithfully reveals truth when we are ready to receive it. One lesson He has continually impressed upon my heart is the biblical symbolism of the number seven. Throughout Scripture, seven often represents completeness, wholeness, and God's perfect work. It reminds me that when we remember who we are in Christ, we begin to walk in the fullness of the identity He has already given us.

We are children of God.

Over the past year, as I committed myself to prayer and intentionally returned to my relationship with God, I made the decision to read the entire Bible for myself—and by His grace, I followed through.

That commitment taught me the importance of perseverance in every area of my life: my faith, my family, and my stewardship.

During that same season, I rededicated my life to Christ and was baptized. I do not mean that I wanted to die physically; rather, I was finally ready to die to my old nature. I was ready to surrender my flesh, my pride, and my own way of living.

Baptism became a beautiful symbol of spiritual rebirth. It marked my decision to return home—to my true identity as a daughter of God.

Although my baptism was an outward declaration of faith, God had already been confirming His work of reconciliation and redemption in my heart long before I stepped into the water.

One truth I have learned is this:

Every ending in Christ becomes the beginning of something new.

As God continued revealing hidden places in my heart, I realized that one of my greatest struggles was trust. Nearly every significant relationship in my life had left wounds where trust had been broken.

Yet through those experiences, God gently reminded me of Proverbs 3:5:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

Those words became more than a familiar verse—they became my testimony.

When you truly encounter Jesus for yourself, everything changes. You begin leaving behind old patterns and entering a lifelong process of sanctification. Every season becomes an invitation into deeper intimacy with God.

As one chapter of my life closes, another begins.

The greatest lesson I have learned is that no earthly relationship can satisfy the deepest needs of our hearts. Only a relationship with our Creator can do that.

My prayer is that my testimony encourages you to pursue Him above everything else.

God also knows how uniquely He created each of us. For me, He often speaks through patterns, numbers, and Scripture. Numbers have always been easy for me to understand, and over the past year I found myself noticing the number seven repeatedly—in Bible chapters, everyday moments, and unexpected places.

These moments continually reminded me to seek God more deeply.

As I studied Scripture, I was drawn to the sevenfold description of the Spirit of God in Isaiah 11. Rather than becoming fascinated with numbers themselves, I found myself captivated by what they revealed about God's character and His work through the Holy Spirit.

As we begin a new season, I thank God for giving me greater clarity about what He is developing in my life.

Isaiah reminds us of the Spirit's work through these beautiful descriptions:

• The Spirit of the Lord

• The Spirit of Wisdom

• The Spirit of Understanding

• The Spirit of Counsel

• The Spirit of Might

• The Spirit of Knowledge

• The Fear of the Lord

The more we grow in Christ, the more we recognize our need for every one of these qualities. In a world filled with confusion, deception, and competing voices, discernment is no longer optional—it is essential.

That is why I encourage you to study Isaiah 11 for yourself. Read the chapter slowly. Pray through it. Explore the original language if you feel led. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what He wants to teach you.

As you spend time with the Lord, ask yourself these questions:

• What new beginning is God inviting me into?

• What needs to die in my heart so that Christ can live more fully through me?

• How is God maturing my faith?

• Is there someone I need to forgive?

• Who am I called to love, even when it is difficult?

• Where is God asking me to trust Him more deeply?

The days ahead will require wisdom, discernment, and unwavering faith.

Above all, remember who you are.

You are a child of God.

The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer, empowering us to live lives that honor Christ.

Isaiah 11:2 declares:

"The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord."

My prayer is that these truths become more than verses on a page.

May they become the foundation upon which you build your life.
