Coming Home to the Father

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog that chronicles my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption.

I am so grateful to share the transformation God has worked in my life.

First, let me say this: I have no regrets about the life I have lived. Every experience—both beautiful and painful—has shaped me into the woman I am today. Some lessons cannot simply be taught; they must be lived. God, in His infinite wisdom, has a way of using even our failures to reveal His grace and draw us back to Himself.

One verse that continually comes to mind is Proverbs 3:6:

"In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Notice that Scripture says "in all your ways."

Even in our darkest moments.

Even in our failures.

Even in our sin.

We can still call upon the name of Jesus.

Please don't misunderstand what I am saying. I am not suggesting that we take God's grace for granted or continue living in deliberate disobedience. God's grace is never a license to sin. Rather, it is the invitation to repent and be transformed.

I believe God can completely renew our hearts and minds.

That is why Jesus told the parable of the Prodigal Son. It is a beautiful picture of a loving Father who welcomes His children home when they turn back to Him.

Recently, I spent time reflecting on what I call my "Jesus Year"—the year I rededicated my life to Christ and was baptized.

I committed myself to reading the entire Bible from beginning to end, and by God's grace, I finished it.

That commitment changed everything.

When God begins drawing you to Himself, there is a hunger that cannot be explained. You develop a thirst for His presence and a deep desire to know Him personally rather than simply knowing about Him.

Looking back, I realize that God had been pursuing me my entire life.

As a child, I experienced moments that deeply shaped my faith, and throughout my thirty-four years, I continued to encounter His presence in different ways. Many people described me as innocent or naïve, but I now recognize that I genuinely desired truth.

At the same time, I also recognize that I left many spiritual doors open—some through ignorance, others through curiosity.

Today, I understand that my greatest weakness was not a lack of sincerity; it was a lack of biblical knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 says:

"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as My priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children."

When we read the entire verse, we begin to understand the seriousness of rejecting God's truth. Ignorance has consequences—not only for us but often for future generations.

That realization humbled me.

I began to understand the incredible price Jesus paid for my salvation.

Perspective changes everything.

Although I attended Christian schools and considered myself a believer, I eventually realized that I knew many things about God without truly cultivating an intimate relationship with Him.

Everything changed when I committed to reading Scripture for myself.

As I studied God's Word, the Holy Spirit faithfully brought conviction, clarity, and confirmation.

One of the greatest lessons I can offer is this:

Read the Word of God for yourself.

Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you.

While pastors, teachers, parents, and mentors are gifts from God, every believer must also develop a personal relationship with the Lord through His Word.

Nothing compares to the love of our Heavenly Father.

Romans 5:8 reminds us:

"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

What an incredible gift.

Jesus willingly paid a debt we could never repay.

When I finally understood that truth, I also began to understand the seriousness of disobedience, pride, and spiritual compromise.

At the same time, I discovered the immeasurable beauty of God's mercy.

Because of Jesus, salvation is freely offered to anyone who believes.

As 1 John 5:1 declares:

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves His child as well."

Our relationship with God changes everything.

If we truly love Him, we naturally desire to obey Him—not to earn His love, but because we have already received it.

For much of my life, I embraced ideas and practices without fully understanding where they would lead me. My curiosity drew me toward New Age spirituality, Buddhism, and yoga before I had truly devoted myself to knowing God through His Word.

Looking back, I now see those experiences differently.

Rather than leading me to lasting peace, they ultimately revealed my need for Jesus Christ.

John 10:10 became deeply personal to me:

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Today, I understand those words in a way I never did before.

Jesus did not come merely to improve my life.

He came to give me new life.

If my testimony encourages you, I pray it inspires you to seek truth before seeking every other voice competing for your attention.

Read God's Word daily.

Live a lifestyle of repentance.

Remain grateful for His mercy.

Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your steps.

For years, I described myself as a "feeler" and a "knower."

Today, I simply know that God was pursuing me all along.

He was patiently revealing His truth, even when I did not yet recognize His hand.

Jesus said in John 4:23–24:

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the
