I Am Her

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog that shares my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption.

Today, the Holy Spirit is reminding me of something I have spent most of my life trying to discover:

I am her. Not because of my accomplishments. Not because of my career. Not because of the approval of others. I am her because I finally know whose I am. I am a daughter of God. I was created to lead because my identity is rooted in Christ.

Yet, like many believers, I often find myself wrestling with my flesh while the Holy Spirit continually calls me to walk in freedom. Today, I encourage you to read the book of Galatians. One of its central themes is that our blessing comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not through our own efforts or ability to keep the law perfectly. God gives every one of us a choice. We can choose bondage. Or we can choose freedom. Freedom in Christ is not permission to do whatever we want. It is the freedom to live by the Holy Spirit and produce the fruit of righteousness.

Galatians 1:10 asks a question that has continually challenged my heart:

"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still

My personal slogan in life has always been, "Be your own body." It sounded empowering at the time, but looking back, I realize it subtly reinforced the lie that I could become self-made—that I didn't need God.

The truth is found in Galatians 3:26–29:

"So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile,

The enemy is skilled at isolating those whom God is calling to lead. One of his greatest strategies is to separate you from the people who will strengthen your faith and encourage you to walk in God's purpose. Isolation keeps us from the community God designed us to flourish in. That is why we must be intentional about whose voices we allow to influence our lives.

So I ask you the same question I have had to ask myself: Will you live by the law or by faith?

I have chosen to embrace my inheritance as a child of God. What does that mean? Galatians 4:7–9 declares:

"So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir. Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?"

Those verses have caused me to examine my own heart. Why would I return to the very things that Christ has already set me free from? That is the question I continue to ponder as I choose each day to walk in my identity as a daughter of God. The world's way of thinking is deeply ingrained in our culture, and many of us have unknowingly adopted its values. Choosing Christ requires renewing our minds and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out.

For me, that transformation has required three intentional decisions.

First, I had to forgive myself and repent for the mistakes I made as I stepped into the character and calling God had prepared for me.

Second, I had to humble myself before the Lord, seek His deliverance, and surrender every area of my life that was still rooted in the flesh rather than the Spirit.

Third, I had to embrace the lifelong process of spiritual maturity. Following Christ requires daily dependence on Him as He renews my mind and teaches me to live according to His truth instead of the world's standards.

God has called us to walk in Spirit and in truth.

Galatians 5:16–18 reminds us: "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law."

To walk by the Spirit is to make a daily decision to pursue sanctification. It is choosing God's will over our own, trusting His promises over our feelings, and receiving the free gift of salvation with gratitude. As we surrender to the Holy Spirit, He produces His fruit within us and transforms us into the image of Christ. This is the inheritance we have already been given—not a life of striving, but a life of freedom, obedience, and relationship with our Heavenly Father.
