DECLARE A FAST!
Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog, that takes you on my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption. So recently I have been struggling to stay consistent and get back in routine. My baby is about to be one and I no longer have and excuse... IT IS TIME! However, I have been focusing on surrendering my will for God's will in every detail of my life. The Lord tells us to do this in Proverbs 3:6" in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." I want to challenge you all to do this in your walk with God. My biggest issue has been delayed obedience which is the same as disobedience. The scheme of the enemy is distraction, deception and doubt so be aware and fight back. One of the methods God has revealed to me is through fasting. When you need immediate help and to annihilate the enemy yesterday... "declare a fast." As a wellness coach, I have been practicing fasting for quite some time but recently I have been struggling with gluttony, lust and self control. So the Lord has stepped in to confirm how important it is to be obedient and trust in the process and training. I am here to encourage you to walk in obedience and show yourself grace. It is time to get back on the horse and "DECLARE A FAST" to return to obedience, focus and purpose.

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog, that takes you on my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption. As I mentioned int he intro WE ALL FALL, even angels have fallen. Consequently, we have had to embrace the suffering of our own Jesus Christ through crucifixion because we have fallen. I am so grateful that Jesus Christ saved my soul because of his everlasting love and ability to follow God's will and not his own. This is why it is important to believe and have fait in the Lord Jesus christ because we honor and understand all that he has done for us. The least I can do is fast and defeat the enemy who tries to manipulate and control our soul (mind, will and emotions). Many of us react to circumstances not realizing that the battle we fight is spiritual. ( Read Ephesians 4 and 6)
When you appreciate all that God has done for you because he loves you then fasting seems quite minimal. Fasting is a requirement as a believer in Jesus Christ and in pursuit of a relationship with God. We all have to learn discipline in order to carryout Gods purpose and will for our lives. Surrender sounds good but it is not easy to practice in theory. Many of us are proud, self-sufficient and stubborn and would rather choose our own way. We are always fighting to be right but fail to acknowledge when we are wrong. We are all wrong because each person reading this blog has sinned, has fallen, and decided to disobey God at some point in their life. Therefore we are all equal and justified only through the Lord Jesus Christ. Back to what I was saying about struggling with lust, gluttony and doubt we all must share our trials and encourage each other in our humanity.
A wonderful quote by C.S. Lewis comes to mind it says " If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this world." This was very profound to me because I would always say " I am in this world but not of this world" becasue I have always found pleasure and purpose in the path less taken. For instance, my obsession with fasting was prior to my reconciliation to Christ but is now something I see often in the Bible. God will give you new eyes and a new Spirit once you humble yourself and realize how lucky we are to have a God full of grace and mercy. The least I can do is go on a fast to honor and trust in the Lord to get me through it. I also find that it helps bring us back to repentance and refinement. When you declare a fast you see all the things that need to change in your mind, your heart and your desires become clear.
Fasting by definition means to abstain from all or some kinds of food or drink, especially as a religious observance. This is mentioned in the book of Esther, Daniel and now I find it in Joel. God has brought me back to the beginning and revealed to me where I need to surrender and humble myself again so that I can elevate into the woman of God he has called me to be. I have been reading Joel and there is a verse that keeps repeating itself. As a mother, when I have to repeat myself I get annoyed and feel disrespected so I know that is the tone the Lord is speaking to me in. I throw away idols I put before the Lord today on 12/15/2025. I quit making excuses and hold myself accountable for the souls he has trusted me with. It begins with my transformation and decision to move in obedience. No more delayed disobedience but commitment to what God told me to do. I can no longer choose anxiety, confusion and lack of understanding due to disobedience. So lets look at the verse God keeps bringing up to me found in Joel 1:14 " Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to he house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord."
Again, I head to chapter 2 to find it repeated in Joel 2:15-16 it says " Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast." Now that we are graduating from spiritual milk it is time to nurse others who may have never heard about Jesus but through you. As I accept this responsibility in obedience to the Lord and share my journey so that you help hold me accountable and remain steadfast. The Lord confirms it with an email in a community that I am so thankful for called Covered by God led by Tiphani Montgomery. She is a powerful and anointed woman of God that changed my life last year and got me back on track and in relationship with the Lord. We all have to nurse at the breats and receive spiritual milk somewhere and I am grateful for her discipleship.
So let me share with you the email I received this am verbatim. In the the subject box it says "DO IT AGAIN" and in the email it says the following.
WHAT IF YOU DID THE 3 DAY "DESTROY IT" FAST ONE MORE TIME BEFORE THE YEAR IS OUT?
What if you gave it all you got for 72 hours, turning down your plate and shutting everything down to focus on God and bombard heaven for your breakthrough?
Whether this is confirmation for you or your first time hearing this idea but it bears witness with you...I've put the links to each day below for you to get started!!!
Thank you Holy Spirit for always being my advocate and counselor and leading me towards righteousness and a path that is good. I declare and decree that I will destroy all idols sent to distract and deceive me and keep me form fulfilling my God given purpose and calling. Thank you for your persistence and mercy and grace Lord. Thank you for never forsaking me but becoming my Jehovah Jireh and I declare and decree Psalms 119:32 "I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding" to stop wrestling with God. If God said it "do it" that is all there is to it. So let's break down what we need to do the next three days from 12/15-12/18. Lets continue to get back on track and corporate fast and fast when God tells you to.
Day One-DESTROY IT
Day Two- DECAPITATE IT
Day Three- DROWN IT
I love the Revelations that Tiphani Montgomery shares while we fast so you can click the link to her videos where we pray as a community and encourage each other. The key to a holy fast is to abstain from food and water for a certain period of time. This physical denial helps us reestablish a "hunger for God."During this time of fasting we able to increase our spiritual focus, sacrifice and self control all sharpens our intentionality. However, I advise that you build a tolerance and train to be able to dry fast for 72 hours. I used to be able to do a 48 hour - 72 hour dry fast easily but thats how determined the enemy is to get you off routine and distracted. Now, I will have to give up food and drink from 6am -6pm to train myself up in being able to complete a holy fast. The key is to start where you are and give up what God tells you to give up. Stay in your scripture, prayer and practice retraining your mind, thoughts and your brain with God's promises. Share this blog post with someone you can rust to keep you accountable or that needs it!
