In the Training

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog, that takes you on my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption. All of my writings are about where I am currently in the present moment. It is extremely hard to be vulnerable in the moment when its not the projected or perceived moment. But this is life, right? As someone who has lived for three decades I can say that most people fear being vulnerable. That is what I fear most even when I pretend and "fake it to make it." The truth is we all have to look ourselves in the mirror everyday, like Michael Jackson sings to us. It is not what others perceive about us but what our creator, God knows about us. When we can embrace the truth of who we are in Gods eyes and choose to surrender to his will and not ours then we have completed training. The truth lies in surrender and obedience to our Creator and admitting that we all have fallen but Jesus is the only one that has loved us, saved us and been vulnerable on behalf of all of us. Jesus explains to us in his vulnerability John 14:6 " Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Training for the Kingdom

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog that shares my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption.

Jesus willingly left the glory of heaven, humbled Himself, and entered our world to live as one of us. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He demonstrated the depth of God's love and made a way for humanity to be reconciled to the Father.

When I reflect on His sacrifice, I am reminded that Jesus did not simply come to save us from sin—He came to show us how to live in complete obedience to God's will.

As children of God, we have been invited into that same mission.

Many people spend their lives focused only on what they can see, yet Scripture continually reminds us that there is both a physical and a spiritual reality. God has not left us powerless. Through His Holy Spirit, He has equipped every believer with gifts to serve His Kingdom.

Paul writes in Ephesians 4:11–13:

"So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up..."

Our calling is not simply to receive salvation.

Our calling is to mature in Christ and participate in His ministry of reconciliation.

As a former athlete, I often recognize how God has used sports to prepare me for my spiritual journey.

The discipline.

The perseverance.

The daily training.

The willingness to be coached.

The humility to keep learning.

Those same principles are essential for following Jesus.

For years, I insisted on doing life my own way. Pride and self-reliance almost destroyed me. It was only after surrendering my plans and rededicating my life to Christ that I began to see my purpose with new eyes.

Today, I understand that God has been training me all along.

One verse that continually challenges me is 2 Corinthians 5:20:

"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."

That word—reconciled—captivated me.

As I studied its meaning, I discovered that reconciliation involves restoring a broken relationship and bringing two parties back into peace and favor.

That realization transformed the way I viewed my own story.

Jesus paid a debt I could never repay.

He restored what my sin had broken.

Because of Him, I am no longer defined by my past. I have been welcomed into God's family and entrusted with the privilege of representing Christ as His ambassador.

The least I can do is dedicate my life to becoming a faithful servant of His Kingdom.

For me, discipleship has become spiritual training.

I recently began studying Next Level Living: Are You Ready for God's Great Adventure? by Rich Rogers, with a foreword by Jentezen Franklin. One lesson stood out immediately: God's people are called to live with intentionality, courage, and readiness.

Joshua led Israel into the Promised Land because he trusted God's voice and obeyed His commands.

That same principle applies today.

Victory begins with obedience.

The more time I spend with Jesus, the more I realize He is the greatest Teacher, Coach, and Shepherd I could ever follow.

Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:9:

"For we are co-workers in God's service..."

That verse changed my perspective.

We are not spectators.

We are participants in God's work.

Every profession, every gift, every talent, and every opportunity can become an act of worship when surrendered to Him.

Just as every job requires training, every believer must become a student of God's Word.

We read contracts before accepting employment.

We study manuals before operating equipment.

How much more should we study the Word of God if we desire to fulfill the calling He has placed on our lives?

Peter writes:

"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."

That is Kingdom readiness.

As I continued learning, I reflected on several principles that have reshaped my thinking.

1. Embrace the Time God Has Given You

You were created for this moment.

God placed you in this generation intentionally.

Instead of resisting His timing, surrender to His leadership and invite the Holy Spirit into every area of your life.

Obedience is always more fruitful than self-reliance.

2. Remember That Our Weapons Are Spiritual

Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:4:

"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds."

Our greatest weapons are not fear, anger, or control.

They are truth.

Faith.

Prayer.

Mercy.

Love.

The Gospel.

These are the weapons Christ has entrusted to His people.

3. Every Believer Has an Assignment

God has entrusted each of us with unique gifts and responsibilities.

Whether you plant seeds, water them, teach, encourage, or serve behind the scenes, every role matters.

Paul reminds us:

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow."

Our responsibility is faithfulness.

God alone produces the growth.

4. Win the Battle at Home

One of the greatest mission fields God has entrusted to us is our own family.

As a mother of two boys and the oldest of seven siblings, I now understand that motherhood is not simply a role—it is a ministry.

God has entrusted parents with the privilege of shaping the next generation through love, truth, and faithful example.

Strong families become strong communities.

Strong communities help build a healthy society.

5. Remember That You Never Fight Alone

God never sends His people into battle by themselves.

He goes before us.

He strengthens us through His Spirit.

He surrounds us with His Church.

He faithfully accomplishes His purposes through those who trust Him.

Isaiah 54:17 reminds us:

"No weapon forged against you will prevail..."

That promise does not eliminate hardship.

It reminds us that Christ has already secured the final victory.

As I reflect on my own life, I realize that every victory I have experienced has ultimately pointed back to God's faithfulness.

He has patiently trained me.

Corrected me.

Strengthened me.

Prepared me.

And He continues to do the same today.

If this chapter leaves you with one thought, let it be this:

God is not simply calling you to believe in Him.

He is inviting you to train with Him.

The longer we delay our obedience, the longer we postpone the work God desires to accomplish through us.

So begin today.

Trust your Creator.

Study His Word.

Submit to His leading.

Walk faithfully in your calling.

The Kingdom needs believers who are prepared, humble, and willing to say, "Here I am, Lord. Send me."

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
