We all have fears. Fear often grows because we fail to remain present. The past can fill us with shame and deception, while the future often fills us with anxiety. At its core, fear is a lack of trust in God. It is a counterfeit of faith—the very opposite of what God desires for His children.

During the first three days of every month, I like to fast, recenter my faith, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any open doors in my life that need to be closed. This month, I have realized that I am struggling to trust both myself and the Lord because of my past failures and my tendency toward self-reliance.

Today, I have chosen to speak God's Word repeatedly as my weapon against fear. I keep returning to Proverbs 3:5–6:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

Today has been one of the hardest days of my fast, and if I'm honest, it has been incredibly frustrating. Yet I am grateful because God is revealing the places in my heart that still need prayer, surrender, and repentance.

Do not be deceived into thinking that becoming a Christian means life becomes easy. When you give your life to Christ, you become a threat to the kingdom of darkness. The enemy will target anyone who chooses to walk in obedience to God.

I share this not to discourage you, but to encourage you through my own struggles. My desire is to remind you that staying holy, sanctified, and rooted in the Lord is worth every battle. As believers, we are called to be set apart, yet the enemy often uses the idols of our hearts to distract and defeat us. That is why we must remain diligent, obedient, and full of faith, just as David did.

The enemy knows he has already lost. His greatest strategy is convincing you to believe you have lost. He cannot defeat you unless you decide to give up.

Do not run from the challenge.

Allow the challenge to strengthen your faith and deepen your dependence on God. Continue choosing to align yourself with your identity in Christ.

Resistance is training for your heart, your soul, and your faith. Whatever temptation or obstacle stands before you, use it as an opportunity to increase your prayer life and your devotion to the Lord.

We are at war.

We must first acknowledge that our greatest battle is often against our own flesh, pride, and ignorance. That truth is not meant to produce fear but to prepare us. Victory comes through knowing and applying God's Word.

Last night, I attended School of the Warrior, a course taught at my church. One of the most powerful lessons was that God's Word is not merely information—it is God's instrument for deliverance, transformation, and salvation.

One of the greatest blessings of belonging to a healthy church community is receiving encouragement, accountability, and confirmation from like-minded believers.

Together we studied Psalm 119:1–4:

"Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart—they do no wrong but follow his ways. You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed."

One definition of the word blessed is appointed, chosen, or positioned by God.

Read those verses again with that definition in mind.

Imagine living every day knowing you have been positioned by God.

That is what we should strive for—in our faith, our families, our careers, and every area of our lives.

Personally, I am learning what it means to mature in my faith. For years I called myself a Christian, yet I lacked biblical understanding because I had never truly studied God's Word for myself. I lived in the gray because I had allowed other idols to compete for my heart.

Jesus makes this clear in Matthew 6:24:

"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other."

Psalm 119 reminds us that we are called to be different.

We are called to be the light.

We are called to motivate others.

We are called to reflect the character of Christ wherever we go.

People-pleasing and double-mindedness cannot coexist with wholehearted obedience to God. Eventually, every believer must decide whose voice they will follow.

Will you follow the Lord, or will you follow the distractions of the world?

It is not always easy, but it is always worth it.

The prescription for living a blessed life is wholehearted obedience to God's Word. We cannot carry fear while simultaneously walking in faith. We must live with meditation, dedication, and purity of heart, just as David models throughout Psalm 119.

I now understand that before we can build God's Kingdom around us, we must first allow Him to build His Kingdom within us.

Life is spiritual warfare, and God has already given us everything we need to stand firm.

These five disciplines have become the foundation of my walk with Christ. When practiced consistently, they strengthen our faith, deepen our relationship with God, and prepare us to stand firm against fear.
