Open the Door

This morning was powerful.

As I sat with the Lord, I found myself revisiting a recent encounter I had with Him during prayer. It reminded me that God is always speaking—we simply have to be still enough to hear His voice.

Today's Scripture was Revelation 3:20, a verse that has become an invitation for me to step away from distraction and back into intimacy with my Heavenly Father.

As I enter this season of 40 days and 40 nights with the Lord, I have made a commitment to spend intentional time in His presence and to walk in daily obedience.

Today, I want to encourage you to do the same.

Open the door.

Step away from spiritual complacency and step into deeper fellowship with Christ.

The Gentle Knock

We often overlook the simple things that matter most.

Life moves quickly.

Social media constantly competes for our attention.

The voices of culture become louder than the voice of God.

Before we realize it, we've become so distracted that we no longer recognize when He is knocking.

But one thing I've learned is this:

God is a gentleman.

He never forces Himself into our lives.

He doesn't manipulate.

He doesn't overpower.

He simply extends an invitation.

An invitation to intimacy.

An invitation to relationship.

An invitation to friendship with our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer.

The Morning God Woke Me Up

This morning, I honestly didn't feel like getting up.

I was tired.

I felt the temptation to stay where I was.

But then my phone began playing a Bible verse that immediately caught my attention.

Before I even opened my Bible, I sensed the Holy Spirit gently nudging my heart.

Not condemning me.

Not shaming me.

Simply inviting me to choose obedience.

That moment reminded me that accountability is an expression of love.

God doesn't call us higher because He wants to control us.

He calls us higher because He wants to transform us.

I'm so thankful I chose to get up.

Had I ignored that invitation, I would have missed His presence and the encouragement He wanted to give me—not only for myself, but for everyone who may read these words.

Every morning I open my Bible expecting God to speak.

And every morning, He faithfully does.

Today's verse was Revelation 3:20:

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with Me."

What a beautiful invitation.

Leaving Lukewarm Faith Behind

Revelation 3 records Jesus' letter to the church in Laodicea.

As I read it, I couldn't help but see myself.

Not because I rejected God.

But because I had become comfortable.

Self-sufficient.

Trying to build life in my own strength.

I knew about God, but I wasn't consistently living in intimate fellowship with Him.

That realization convicted me.

I thanked the Lord for rescuing me from living in the "gray"—that place between complete dependence on Him and complete dependence on myself.

For years I chased success according to the world's definition.

Work harder.

Achieve more.

Build more.

Own more.

Yet none of those things brought the peace my soul was searching for.

The world told me I wasn't enough.

God reminded me that I was already His.

There Is a Seat at the Table

Today I no longer live under condemnation or confusion.

I walk with confidence because I know who invites me to the table.

When I open the door to Christ, I don't find judgment waiting for me.

I find communion.

A shared meal.

A picture of trust.

A picture of friendship.

A picture of love.

That is something I never fully understood before.

As we mature through daily prayer and the reading of Scripture, we slowly leave behind lukewarm faith and begin experiencing genuine relationship with Jesus.

Not religion.

Relationship.

Keep Opening the Door

I haven't arrived.

I'm still growing.

I'm still learning what it means to surrender every part of my life.

But today I know something I didn't know before.

For years I thought God was distant.

Now I realize Christ had been patiently knocking on the door of my heart all along.

His plans for my life have always been better than the plans I tried to create for myself.

My peace isn't found in success.

It isn't found in control.

It isn't found in certainty.

My peace is found in my Heavenly Father, who simply desires to spend time with His children.

The question isn't whether God is speaking.

The question is:

When He knocks... will you open the door?

Jesus reminds us in John 15:16:

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in My name the Father will give you."

Today, I choose to open the door.

Again.

And tomorrow, I'll choose it again.
