Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog that shares my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption.

This story has always touched my heart because, deep within me, I have always known there was a calling on my life. There has always been an unspoken language, an unforgettable rhythm, and a unique cadence that I seemed to hear long before I understood where it came from.

That is why I named my firstborn Caedence—a slight variation of the traditional spelling. I wanted him to move to the rhythm God created uniquely for him, not to the expectations of the world.

For much of my own life, however, I lived under the weight of shame, perfectionism, and the constant feeling that I was never enough.

Then I encountered the story of Jairus' daughter in Mark 5.

For the first time, I saw myself in that little girl.

Spiritually lifeless.

Waiting to be awakened.

Jesus Christ has rescued me more times than I can count. During seasons when I was spiritually asleep, He continually pursued me. When I finally understood the words "Talitha koum," they became deeply personal.

"Little girl, I say to you, arise."

Those words were not only spoken to Jairus' daughter.

They felt as though they were spoken to me.

It was time to rise.

To embrace my calling as a daughter of God.

To receive my inheritance as a co-heir with Christ.

To become the woman my Heavenly Father had always intended me to be.

I encourage you to read the entire account found in Mark 5.

Jesus was surrounded by opposition throughout His ministry. The religious leaders continually looked for ways to accuse Him, yet He remained completely focused on His Father's mission.

One detail in this story especially captured my attention.

Before raising Jairus' daughter, Jesus asked everyone except her parents and a few of His closest disciples to leave the room.

That moment was sacred.

Private.

Protected.

As I reflected on that scene, I realized God often works similarly in our lives.

Sometimes He removes people from our lives—not to punish us, but to protect the work He is doing within us.

Not everyone can accompany you into every season of your spiritual growth.

There are moments when God invites us into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him.

Those seasons often require quietness, separation, and complete dependence upon His presence.

Looking back, I now recognize this past year as my own "Talitha Koum" season.

It has been a season of returning wholeheartedly to Jesus Christ and allowing Him to become the center of every area of my life.

Mark 5:41 says:

"He took her by the hand and said to her, 'Talitha koum!' (which means 'Little girl, I say to you, get up!')."

What amazes me is everything Jesus had already accomplished before arriving at Jairus' home.

He had delivered a man possessed by a legion of demons.

He had healed the woman who had suffered from chronic bleeding for twelve years because of her faith.

Then He stopped everything to answer the desperate request of a father who believed.

Even after people announced that the little girl had died, Jesus remained unwavering.

He told Jairus,

"Don't be afraid; just believe."

Faith remained present even when everyone else believed hope was gone.

That truth encourages me tremendously.

Sometimes we only need one person who believes what God says more than what circumstances appear to say.

Ultimately, that person must become us.

Learning to believe God's promises about ourselves can be incredibly difficult after years of listening to the lies of the enemy.

Yet Jesus continually reminds us that the enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy—but Christ came so that we might have life.

Our responsibility is to wake up.

The Aramaic phrase "Talitha koum" simply means:

"Little girl, arise."

I must honestly admit that for much of my life I was spiritually asleep.

I identified as a Christian, yet I had not truly cultivated a daily relationship with the Lord.

I had religion.

But I lacked intimacy.

Perhaps that describes someone reading this today.

It is possible to attend church, know Christian language, and participate in Christian culture while remaining spiritually asleep.

God is calling us to something much deeper.

He is calling us to Himself.

Today, I want to encourage you to awaken to God's agenda rather than the world's agenda.

The world constantly competes for our attention.

Jesus calls us into transformation.

Another detail that deeply moves me is that Jesus spoke words that only the little girl immediately responded to.

Imagine that moment.

The room was silent.

Everyone watched.

Yet one simple command from Jesus immediately brought life where there had been death.

That is exactly how I describe my own relationship with Christ.

His voice awakened something within me that nothing else ever could.

He broke the chains of shame.

He began healing years of trauma, pain, fear, and disappointment.

He reminded me that I was never forgotten.

I was simply waiting to hear His voice.

Scripture tells us that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.

The old has passed away.

The new has come.

That is my testimony.

I was once spiritually asleep.

Now I am alive in Christ.

The world is filled with people searching for life in places that can never truly satisfy.

As followers of Jesus, we have the privilege of pointing others toward the One who still speaks life into weary hearts.

May we continue building God's Kingdom.

May we continue shining His light.

And may we never forget that the same Savior who spoke to Jairus' daughter is still calling His children today:

"Talitha koum."

Little one... arise.
