The Hardest Lesson...

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog, that takes you on my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption. The hardest lesson for me was to learn "TRUST" in my life. By all means, I encourage you because it is a daily struggle. The truth remains God is all you need and he is always working for your greatest good. Xoxo KISS (Keep It Simple & Sanctified)

MY STORY: MY JESUS YEAR

Trusting the One Who Never Fails

Welcome to Pray! You Whore, a blog that invites you into my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption through Jesus Christ.

Lately, the Lord has been teaching me what it truly means to trust Him.

One verse has become my anchor:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5–6

Those words sound simple.

Living them is another story.

The distractions of this world, our tendency to overthink, and our desire to stay in control can pull us off course before we even realize it.

When Self Becomes the Center

We live in a culture that constantly tells us to focus on ourselves.

Self-improvement.

Self-awareness.

Self-confidence.

Self-success.

There is nothing wrong with growing or becoming a wiser, healthier person. But when self becomes the center of our lives instead of Christ, growth can quietly become pride.

I know because I lived that way for years.

As an athlete and an achiever, I learned to rely on my intellect, my discipline, and my performance.

Those qualities helped me succeed in school, athletics, and business.

But they also tempted me to believe that everything depended on me.

The more I trusted myself, the less I trusted God.

The Performance Trap

Athletes are constantly measured.

Scores.

Statistics.

Times.

Weights.

Championships.

Performance becomes the language we understand.

Without realizing it, many athletes begin attaching their identity to what they accomplish rather than to who they are.

I certainly did.

Comparison became normal.

Competition became constant.

Achievement became my identity.

When my athletic career ended, I discovered something painful.

I no longer knew who I was apart from what I could accomplish.

That confusion eventually opened the door to self-sabotage, unhealthy relationships, addictions, and other attempts to numb the pain.

Many former athletes understand this struggle.

We spend years training our bodies.

Few of us are taught how to anchor our identity once the competition ends.

Learning to Trust Again

Trust has never come naturally to me.

Like many people, I carried wounds from childhood.

When trust has been broken repeatedly, it becomes difficult to believe anyone's promises.

Especially in today's world.

We live in an age of carefully crafted images, edited realities, and convincing imitations.

People can create almost any appearance online.

Authenticity has become increasingly difficult to recognize.

My own experiences with family, disappointment, and unmet expectations only deepened those wounds.

But healing has taught me something important.

Not everyone has to earn my trust.

Only One has already proven Himself trustworthy.

The One Who Keeps His Word

Today, I no longer walk in bitterness.

I choose to walk in maturity.

Life has not unfolded the way I imagined.

Looking back, I regret many of the decisions I made apart from God's wisdom.

Yet even those mistakes became places where His grace found me.

Isaiah 55:11 reminds us:

"So is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

God's Word has never failed me.

People will disappoint us.

Circumstances will change.

Feelings will come and go.

But God's promises remain.

That truth brings a peace the world cannot offer.

It is also the greatest gift I hope to pass on to my children.

They will not always have the right answers.

Neither will I.

But God's Word never changes.

The Greatest Lesson I've Learned

If I could leave you with one lesson from my own life, it would be this:

Trust the Lord with all your heart.

When life becomes confusing...

Go to God.

When fear overwhelms you...

Go to God.

When you fail...

Go to God.

When you're celebrating...

Go to God.

Prayer has become my first response instead of my last resort.

That is the heart behind Pray! You Whore.

The title reminds me that before I react...

Before I panic...

Before I try to fix everything myself...

I need to pray.

I need to surrender.

I need to ask for God's will instead of demanding my own.

He has become my Jehovah Jireh—my faithful Provider.

Love God First

Jesus summarized the entire Law with these words:

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
Mark 12:30–31

Everything begins there.

When we love God first, our priorities begin to change.

Our relationships change.

Our decisions change.

Our hearts change.

Grace Teaches Us to Forgive

Following Christ has taught me to forgive.

To forgive those who wounded me.

To forgive those who disappointed me.

And perhaps most difficult of all...

To forgive myself.

Whenever I remember how much grace God has shown me, I find it easier to extend that same grace to others.

His mercy reminds me that redemption is always possible.

Ask Yourself

The next time life becomes difficult, pause and ask yourself:

Who am I turning to?

What am I trusting?

Why am I looking there first?

If the answer is anything other than Jesus, perhaps He is gently inviting you to place your trust in Him again.

Not because He wants to control your life.

But because He loves you more than anyone else ever could.

Trust the One Who Never Fails

God does not delight in your suffering.

He does not desire for you to live in fear, hopelessness, or despair.

He is a loving Father.

He is faithful.

He is trustworthy.

Philippians 1:6 gives us this beautiful promise:

"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

What God begins...

He finishes.

So place your confidence in the One whose promises never fail.

People may disappoint you.

Circumstances may change.

But your Heavenly Father remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Choose to trust Him.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
