What That Mouth Do?

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog, that takes you on my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption. Many of us speak ourselves into pain, trauma and bad circumstamces. We do noit understand the power that comes with the tongue. Do you realize that God created this entire universe with the "word" and yet we use it to slander and belittle ourselves and others. I want this blog to encourage us all to be mindful of our thoughts because they become words and our words become actions. I truly believe that life is in what you speak out loud and many of us are reaping what we sow because we aren't holding ourselves accountable for what we create and cannot control the words that we speak. Isn't it iron that "cursing" is called cursing? Don't you get it!

MY STORY: MY JESUS YEAR

Welcome to Pray! you whore, a blog, that takes you on my personal journey of repentance, reconciliation, and redemption. This is very important for us to understand that what our mouth does or says is the difference between life and death, as well as, good and evil. Lets look at the Bible, the law, our directions for freedom, love and prosperity. We have a choice given by our loving Heavenly Father but what we do with that choice is completely up to you. Lets look at Joshua 1:8 where it says "8 This book of the Law must not leave your mouth. Think about it day and night, so you may be careful to do all that is written in it. Then all will go well with you. You will receive many good things." We are told to read and rely on the scripture for direction day and night not the constitution, not your legal documents and contracts but the Word of God. Someone who claimed to be Christian yet never read the Word of God for herself this was a gamechanger for me as i choose to walk in relationship with Jesus Christ.

Many years had gone by where I found myself looking to people for advice. The truth is I never found any peace in the advice of man and it never seemed to work out for me the way I knew it should have. or would have if I had turned to God's Word first. Imagine if every human fact checked what people said with the Word of God. Your life would probably look drastically different. Most of us turn to our parents, bosses and mentors for advice yet we remain struggling and wondering why? Not o say that our parents, bosses or mentors are not good people but I am here to speak truth about what God tells us and it is is typically opposite of what the world is telling us. When I thought of a chapter in the bible to explain this perfectly James 3:1-12 came to mind:

"My Christian brothers, not many of you should become teachers. If we do wrong, it will be held against us more than other people who are not teachers. 2 We all make many mistakes. If anyone does not make a mistake with his tongue by saying the wrong things, he is a perfect man. It shows he is able to make his body do what he wants it to do. 3 We make a horse go wherever we want it to go by a small bit in its mouth. We turn its whole body by this. 4 Sailing ships are driven by strong winds. But a small rudder turns a large ship whatever way the man at the wheel wants the ship to go.

5 The tongue is also a small part of the body, but it can speak big things. See how a very small fire can set many trees on fire. 6 The tongue is a fire. It is full of wrong. It poisons the whole body. The tongue sets our whole lives on fire with a fire that comes from hell. 7 Men can make all kinds of animals and birds and fish and snakes do what they want them to do. 8 But no man can make his tongue say what he wants it to say. It is sinful and does not rest. It is full of poison that kills. 9 With our tongue we give thanks to our Father in heaven. And with our tongue we speak bad words against men who are made like God. 10 Giving thanks and speaking bad words come from the same mouth. My Christian brothers, this is not right! 11 Does a well of water give good water and bad water from the same place? 12 Can a fig tree give olives or can a grape-vine give figs? A well does not give both good water and bad water."

Again this explains why cursing is so bad because we are cursing others and not just ourselves and showing a huge lack of self control. I also love how this passage speaks about mixture and how just one bad word or one phone call leads us to gossip and is still considered evil. We must be mindful of the words we speak and the call on our lives to be examples of Christ. My goal is that I inspire you to be conscious of what goes in your mouth and out of the mouth. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and what we put into our bodies is just as important and imperative to our health as well as our mental health. We must encourage others and seek wisdom from above in the heavens. In James 3: 17 it says" But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. Then it gives peace. It is gentle and willing to obey. It is full of loving-kindness and of doing good. It has no doubts and does not pretend to be something it is not. I wam encouraging myself and you today to trust in God's way first above all else.

Lets remember who our Creator is and how he created us with purpose. Many times in life we suffer from loss of identity and we morph into the worlds version and identity of ourselves. My goal is to share my struggles because we are all imperfect creatures but we have a choice to be a new creature in Christ. We must move out of condemnation and walk into consistent obedience. We do not have to doubt God because he is a man of his word always. In Isaiah 43:1 I find this verse to remind us of how special and lucky we are as children off God. It says "But now the Lord Who made you, O Jacob, and He Who made you, O Israel, says, “Do not be afraid. For I have bought you and made you free. I have called you by name. You are Mine!" The goal is to walk in our legal rights and spiritual authority or the devil will use your words against you like any great lawyer. Today, I hope to inspire you to read the Word of God, so that you know your rights and the correct instructions to walk into the promised land. Remember the Israelites talked themselves out of the promised land for forty years.

The mouth is an organ of speech and according to the concordance can mean "wilderness." I find this very intentional as the Israelites simply led themselves into the wilderness instead of the promised land because they did not respect God's law nor did the obey. They often failed the test that God gave over and over because they disobeyed and doubted God consistently. Although we do not deserve God's love and forgiveness he still gives it to us. We see this specifically in Exodus 16:12 "I have heard the complaining of the people of Israel. Say to them, ‘In the evening you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God." God will always be true to his word. So why don't we try to honor our Creator and. ourselves by honoring our "word" too.
